More than twenty years have gone by since I decided to trade my Dutch city Eindhoven for the Spanish town Sotogrande. I remember how hard it was for me, during those first years, to explain to my family and friends where exactly Sotogrande was. It was an unknown place that couldn’t even be found on a map. A lot has changed since then. I have seen it and lived it from within. Taking my daughter to the International School, walking my dogs, going horseback riding and playing tennis and padel. Enjoying the golf and polo tournaments. Watching the boats from afar and from close up. Organizing the cultural events. And working with all aspects of real estate: sales, rentals, maintenance, refurbishments and construction. For a lot of years under the Dutch name of Merweval. And for a few years now under the name Van Loon, my last name.

Nowadays I don’t need to explain where Sotogrande is and how to get here. We are well known and can be accessed in many different ways, via roads and airports. In the more than twenty years that I have lived here, Sotogrande has changed and grown. Just like my knowledge and my experience have evolved. When I say I have a profound knowledge of Sotogrande, I don’t say it to sound good; I say it because it is a fact. There are few houses in Sotogrande that I have not seen on the inside and/or being built. The reason for this is that I would rather sit down with my clients in my office than take them for unnecessary rides. I have access to the majority, if not to all of the houses, apartments and lots that are for sale. We only show a small selection of this large portfolio on our website. Respecting the fact that a lot of friends/owners don’t want their houses to be that exposed. And convinced that we know how to find you what you are looking for. Listening to your conditions and to your wishes. Taking note of the characteristics of your family and your life style. And looking not just at today but towards the future. Your future. Our future. Because I still live and work in Sotogrande believing in my old motto: With real estate it is not as much about the houses as it is about the people!
